Diana Ross covered this song more recently and although she did a fine job Stevie's original captures the feeling of stubbornness mixed with regret more effectively.

The first first couple of lines are so pure and direct you'll be hooked! The production gives the effect of making the song sound like a sunrise on the first days without a lover, lying in bed and looking back at what has been lost.

A great song delivered perfectly.
