Mr. 1980 (26/09/2005 02:12:08) Cliff, Well put, my friend. Well put. Peace. Cliff (25/09/2005 12:14:05) By the way, have I said before that I love 'Shelter in the rain'? It's spiritual without being religious, and genuinely heartfelt without being preachy. It reminds me a lot of 'Bridge over troubled water' in that it evokes that definitive gospel musicality, yet it's lyrical reach is profoundly universal. While watching the CNN clip I just realized something: Stevie's doin' it again! In the same way that he fused soul, pop, rock and funk so magically in the 70s - in the same way his music sang with compassion and burned with unbridled anger when he was younger - the older Stevie now channels his feelings in a more mature fashion. But make no mistake, his music is no less powerful. Man, he's the real deal! James44 (24/09/2005 21:28:44) I just read Roger Friedmans' Fox interview thanks to Vaid in the UK! The man's summary says it better than I did. He was "on point" with his analysis, I feel. I know I am hyping this up, but as we might say in the South (Y'all goin' to see fo yo'self!") MrsWonder (24/09/2005 20:10:58) the best thing stevie wonder has ever done for me is come out with the live album natural wonder. Its so wonderful. the way he goes from the stevie ray vaughn blues straight into higher ground. the drummer on disc one is great for the most part. he doesnt do anything really special but hes perfect for the songs. if you haven't heard naturl wonder i encourage every stevie fan to get it. It'll make you 10 times more of a stevie fan!!!!! James44 (24/09/2005 19:07:40) BTW....Universal's music and video distribution site has listed a concert date in Miami, Florida for Oct 7. James44 (24/09/2005 19:04:06) Mr.1980, Yes, it is closer to his classic sound. That is what struck me at first. A lot of live instrumentaion...sort of like his 70's albums and 1980's Hotter Than July. I only listened to it once, as I had to move on and audit Diana Krall's Chrismas CD (which was good). Monday, when I am back at work, I will try to give it another listen. My favorites songs? So far, "From The Bottom of My Heart, My Love Is On Fire, Positivity, And A Time To Love & Shelter In The Rain. In all honesty, I liked every song. I first heard "So What The Fuss?" a few months ago when we were doing a promo release with two or three different versions. The original sounds best. I can say that the "classic" Stevie chord progressions and key changes are present, which is one of the things I've always loved about his music. I think too, that the lyrics are "classic" in that they are very "thought-provoking" to say the least, particularly the songs, If Your Love Cannot Be Moved, and A TIme To Love. India.Arie is the perfect person to sing with him on the latter. And Stevie's daughter "Aisha" has a very mature and "earthy" voice. I love her tone. I hope this helps. I truly wasn't expecting this album to sounds as great as I think it does. I believe when everyone hears it, they'll "high 5" me and say "James, you were right!" robert (24/09/2005 18:46:22) shelter in the rian Mr. 1980 (24/09/2005 18:40:38) James44, Tell us a little bit about the album. What makes it so great? Is this one closer to his "classic" sound? Which are your favorite songs? How does it compare to his past work? Please give us some info!! Peace. James44 (24/09/2005 16:23:38) It was worth THE wait! Sorry! :) James44 (24/09/2005 16:22:42) As I "reported" on the other forum, I just heard THE album. It was worth wait! James44 (24/09/2005 16:20:41) Hey....this my first time here. Great forum on a great artist. Mr. 1980 (24/09/2005 16:15:24) Thomas, There is no Stevie Wonder song titled "Kiss Away Your Tears." He does, however, have a song called "Kiss Lonely Goodbye", which is on the Pinocchio soundtrack, and is often incorrectly listed on some music websites as "Kiss Away Your Tears." You can find the single "Kiss Lonely Goodbye" on various websites such as Amazon, and Half.com under the title "Kiss Away Your Tears." I don't know why there is a conflicting title for that song, but that's the story. Thomas (23/09/2005 23:27:39) Sorry, for this error...I am new here. "Kiss away your tears" does exist? Mr. 1980 (23/09/2005 23:23:49) Hi, "Kiss away your tears" maxi single does exist? Douglas F. (23/09/2005 21:19:06) Do you know where to find free sheet music or keyboard tabs for Superstition? Cliff (23/09/2005 20:08:41) Carmelita, I'm sure I speak for many on this forum when I express my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and everyone else who've suffered from this tragedy. c lafonta (23/09/2005 20:02:03) thanks for the inspiring song i lost my mom during evacuation on 9-1-05 listening to your music helps alot I lost my collection of your cds during the flood but that can be replaced I felt you were speaking to me to help fill that deep hole in my heart as she is sadly missed love carmelita |
